About the Sixth Grade Program
Parents will need to complete all sections of the Admission Application and submit the application fee. Our Admissions Staff will call to schedule a school tour. We have very small class sizes so your child will have the attention he or she needs to excel.
Curriculum
Bible: Abeka| Students are guided in learning more about God and His plan of salvation for all people. Students will apply God’s standards in establishing good Christian living skills and will use Bible study aids such as cross-references, concordances, Bible dictionaries, and Bible commentaries.
Literature: | Students are engaged with a variety of character-building stories as well as classical literature selections from which biblical principles are drawn. An emphasis on literary elements, higher-level thinking skills, and vocabulary enrichment is a bridge to the traditional literature classes that begin in junior high.
Math: Bob Jones Press | Students are taught to apply their knowledge of operations and properties with whole numbers to fractions, decimals, and solving for unknowns in geometry while learning the grammar of math 87. Saxon.
History: Bob Jones Press | Tour the lands, peoples, and cultures of ancient civilizations in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Help your students learn the history and influences of these peoples on religion and the world today. Students expand Christian worldview and enrich their critical thinking skills.
Science: Bob Jones Press | Students are shown God’s wonderful creation through a study of the earth, cells and organisms, matter and energy, astronomy, heredity, and the nervous and immune systems.
Spanish: | Pronunciation and expansion of content for children.
Writing/Grammar: Bob Jones Press | English 6 continues the study of sentences, nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, and conjunctions as well as practice in reference skills. Students use the Writing Process to write personal narratives, newspaper editorials, instructions, research reports, historical fiction, compare-contrast essays, limericks, free verse, and cover letters for submitting work to a publisher.
